#11 – On The 11th day before Christmas your kiddos really want a THEME.
Not like what you have to find in literature class (although Dickens had some great ones). Theme is a synonym for significance. Over the holidays, kids seem to get lost in the “materialism,” but not so. Just think back to your youth – we always wanted more than the toys and gadgets; we valued the “Spirit of Christmas.” So, give it to them! Share a comment about a song, a commercial, a card – any of these and others that imbues a theme you value. I told my daughter while watching a Coke commercial, “See how he gave his brother his drink! It’s not the drink, but that he gave it that matters most.” Then connect it to the holiday – Messages like these are wonderful for Christmas and afterwards!
